IV Edition_International Festival of Minimal Urban Performances (polarized) in Video

"URBAN BODY IN EXTREME ACTION”

From its beginnings, the practice of performance has been linked to the extreme, since its main objective is to provoke, to make people reflect and to transgress the limits (corporal, physical, political, social, artistic...): the DADA movement sowed the seeds of non-art and the absurdity of the world war; Fluxus opted for an art that must be lived as a game in which life is at risk.

Now we find ourselves in a historical moment, characterized by polarizations and contradictions, since, as in a battery, the positive and negative poles are needed for the energy to flow and not short-circuit. The overabundance of information and communication caused in the digital age has caused extreme opinions to proliferate. This situation is amplified in social networks, which are a loudspeaker for the polarization of opinions, where dialogue and commitment seem to have given way to confrontation and social inequalities.

Faced with extreme contexts such as the climate crisis, movements emerge at the other extreme: that of denial. On the other side of technological hyperconnectivity, there is loneliness and isolation. On one side, the over-exposure and over-labeling of the “I”; on the other side, identity crises. On one extreme, overproduction and over-stimulation; on the other, the paralysis produced by anxiety and depression.

In this context, we seek actions that not only reflect the time we live in, but that go beyond it. That cross the limits (our own and others), that do a pirouette that flies over the extremes, that cross borders (internal and external), that discover horizons not thought of, possible or impossible, implausible, absurd, incoherent, eccentric, maladaptive.

Deadline for submission of proposals: November 20, 2024

THIS FESTIVAL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR EXTREME ACTIONS
